TF1169 Trigger Device
The TF1169 switches both fridge and battery in the caravan and isolate them from the car AND from each other when off.

This relay is particularly useful on vehicles when it is difficult to find a suitable switching point for the Combination Relay or where there is a suitable heavy-duty wire already in place on the vehicle to carry current back to the boot.

With the currents involved in charging an auxiliary battery and/or running a fridge it is essential that you obtain near perfect connections when you crimp terminals. This is easy enough if you use the correct ratchet-type hand crimper. If you do not get good enough connections you will suffer voltage drop and the TF1169 may not function

Important Notes
1. The wire from the vehicle battery must be heavy-duty. We recommend TV15425, 21.75 amp or TV15430, 27.5 amp.

2. Blade fuses are more accurate than glass fuses and we recommend their use. Use a push-on fuseholder, TV164PU, connected to the wires with fully insulated female spades (TV234) and a 15 amp blade fuse. You may choose to fit an additional 10amp fuse to each output line (green, blue and red) to prevent the fridge draining the aux battery if the main fuse blows. (TF116 only)

The TF1169 trigger device fits between the vehicle battery and the Combination Relay or is an integral part of the self-switching relay. It monitors the voltage in the line. When the vehicle's alternator reaches full charge the purple wire comes live and switches the relay on.When the voltage drops too low, the purple wire ceases to be live and the relay switches off. The unit compensates for the large voltage drop which occurs when the fridge switches on and does not switch off too early.

   SYMPTOMS         COMMENT/LOOK FOR
If Relay does not switch

Check all connections are well made

Check any crimps make perfect contact
Check relay for signs of damage
Check earth connection
Check all signal wire connections
Check for presence of a sufficient signal current
Relay switches but no
power comes to output pins/terminals

Check fuse on power circuit from battery

Check there is a strong power source at the power-in terminal of the relay
Check output connections
Check contact alignment of relay, if visible
